Brussels, 19/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The "Renewal and Democracy" trade union, which represents part of the European Commission staff, has written to Commission Vice-President Neil Kinnock to complain about the fact that certain elements of the administrative reform had appeared in the press "although they had not been made known to the trade unions and to the staff". Officials at the head of "Renewal and Democracy" say they fear that Mr Kinnock's offensive towards the press is mainly the result of the failure of his internal communication policy. After "so many messages", Mr Kinnock, "seems to be greatly in need of new methods for developing a reasoning that is no longer credible within the institution"
EUROPE recalls that Mr Kinnock told the press on Wednesday that there are logically demonstrations of uncertainty on the part of the staff, but that they only concern a minority (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.15).
