The British group SMITH & NEPHEW sold off, for EUR 375 million, its beauty-hygiene activities (annual turnover of GBP 185 million) so as to concentrate on medical material. The women's hygiene amnd body care products will be sold to the companies management, with the support of the bank ABN AMRO, for GBP 140 million while the first aid products from the "Elastoplast" brand will be sold to the german BEIERSDORF AG for GBP 80 million.
