The British group GRANADA 4.081 bn euro turnover in 1999) is negotiating merging its hotel and restaurant activities with the collective restaurant specialist, its compatriot COMPASS (£4.814 bn turnover in 1999). Should it succeed, this rapprochement through an exchange of shares would give rise to a new entity that would the world's number one in collective restaurants with £18 bn in stock market capitalisation. In addition GRANADA is considering selling off its audiovisual branch.
