Dutch KPN, which has broken off merger negotiations with Spanish TELEFÓNICA (see yesterday), is discussing with Japanese group NTT DOCOMO in the mobile phone sector. If this alliance takes place, both partners would take on a share of the capital of the other. Both companies are also discussing a bid on ORANGE PLC, the third largest mobile phone operator in the United Kingdom.
