ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electronics

Japanese group SONY is to acquire a stake in FHP - FUJITSU HITACHI PLASMA DISPLAY, a joint company established by the groups FUJITSU and HITACHI in the production of plasma screens (very large dimension flat screens). SONY will pay about 5 billion yen to take over about 15% of this company which has a share capital of 25.3 billion yens. FUJITSU and HITACHI will share the remainder equally, with 45% each.
