Brussels, 11/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - European Parliament and Council decision Nº 293/2000/EC of 24 January 2000 adopting the Community Action Programme (Daphne programme) relating to preventative measures to fight against violence against children, adolescents and women, has been published in the Official Journal L/34 of 9 February 2000.
May we remind you, this programme covers the period going from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2003, with a budget of EUR 20 million. It aims to contribute in a high level of protection of the physical and mental health of children, adolescents and women against violence (including that in the form of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse), through the prevention of violence and through aid to victims of acts of violence so as to avoid new exposures to violence. Its implementation is insured by the European Commission, in close co-operation with the Member States and the institutions and active organisations in the field of the prevention and protection against this type of violence. For details see EUROPE of 23 December 1999, p.12.
