Brussels, 08/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - EU Council President Jaime Gama, accompanied by CFSP High Representative Javier Solana, will be in Algiers on Wednesday to continue preparation of the EU/Africa summit. He will meet Algeria's Foreign Minister and President Bouteflika, representing the OAU Presidency, as well as Mr Amr Moussa, Foreign Minister of Egypt, the country organising the summit. On Wednesday evening, Messrs Gama and Solana will be in Marrakesh to meet Morocco's sovereign Mohamed IV. These meetings are in preparation for the one scheduled for 22 February in Pretoria, which is expected to have a decisive say on the possibility of holding the summit as planned on 3 and 4 April in Cairo. Everything will depend upon the compromise that may be found on the name of the summit, its agenda and its follow-up (see EUROPE of 31 January, page 13).
