Parliament calls on Commission to take measures to improve safety of humanitarian personnel

Strasbourg, 24/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of a common resolution by three political groups (ELDR, PES and EFF) on the protection of humanitarian personnel and volunteers, the European Parliament expressed its concern following the assassination, on 18 November last, of the Spanish aidworker Inigo Eguiluz and the Colombian priest Jorge Luis Mazo, and regarding the continual threats to a large number of volunteer workers in Colombia.
