Following its successful takeover bid for ESAT TELECOM, Ireland's leading telecommunications company (see EI of 13 January), BT has concluded a sharing agreement with its Norwegian rival TELENOR. BT, which has just taken over ESAT for some $2.5 bn, has proposed that TELENOR take 49.9% of he capital in he Irish group against the 49.5% stake it has in ESAT DIGIFONE, mobile phone subsidiary of ESAT. TELENOR will, moreover have to pay $624 million cash for this share.
