Revaluation of drachma prepares Greek accession to euro - Satisfaction in Greece and in Community circles

Brussels, 17/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The revaluation of the drachma within the European exchange mechanism, announced on Friday (see EUROPE of 13 January, p.13), was given concrete substance on Saturday. The ministers of the euro zone and the European Central Bank, as well as the ministers and governors of the two other countries of the European Exchange-Rate Mechanism (ERM II) announced the news in the following communique:
