26/08/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 26 August, EU diplomatic delegations to Ethiopia and the African Union (AU), along with 22 European countries and the embassies of Canada, Norway, and the United Kingdom in Addis Ababa, said they were following developments in Tigray, northern Ethiopia with great concern, where tensions are intensifying against a backdrop of drone strikes reported during August by AFP. “We encourage all parties to engage constructively and in good faith on the implementation of the Permanent Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (CoHA)”, signatories said on Wednesday, welcoming the resumption of consultations led Monday by the AU High Representative for the Horn of Africa, Olusegun Obasanjo. On Tuesday, however, Tigray’s rebel authorities determined Mr Obasanjo’s visit didn’t allow for progress towards discussions with the Ethiopian federal government. (BD)
