19/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – MEP Kai Tegethoff (Greens/EFA, German) was appointed, on Thursday 18 June, as rapporteur for the Rail Ticketing Regulation, his team told Agence Europe. It is one of the three texts in the ‘rail package’ presented on 13 May (see EUROPE 13868/2). “As rapporteur, my goal is simple: to make cross-border rail travel noticeably easier for everyone. We need to unlock schedule and ticket data, foster fair competition, and make sure national companies exchange relevant data”, the MEP announced in a message posted on LinkedIn. The text is intended to reform distribution systems at European level so that passengers can plan their journey in a single transaction on the platform of their choice, in order to facilitate travel and encourage the use of rail.
