12/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – Contrary to what we wrote (see EUROPE 13866/3), German Minister of State Gunther Krichbaum did not speak in favour of proposals to make it more difficult to import products from Israeli settlements, but explained that the government was in favour of a two-state solution and that it could “not support everything that contributes to instability”. Asked about measures, he replied that Germany was determined to maintain a direct dialogue with Israel and was endeavouring to influence the Israeli government and, consequently, the region. The online version has been corrected. When asked about the proposal that the European Commission had been asked by the Member States to put forward regarding trade with the colonies, its spokesperson Paula Pinho explained that “for the moment, (she) cannot really speculate on whether or not there will be a proposal on this specific subject”.
