Agreement between Italy and Albania on transfer of asylum seekers suffers a further setback in Italian courts

12/11/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 11 November, a court in Rome inflicted a further setback on Giorgia Meloni’s migration policy by asking the European courts to rule on the detention of migrants transferred to Albania, who will return to Italy in the meantime, AFP reported. The judges decided to refer the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union to ensure that Italian legislation complies with European legislation.
