Cost of managing congestion on European power grid reached €4 billion in 2023, according to ACER

On Wednesday 3 July, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) highlighted, in its 2024 market monitoring report on capacity for cross-border electricity trading and congestion management, the urgent need for transmission system operators (TSOs) to make 70% of transmission capacity available for cross-border electricity trading by the end of 2025.
