EU announces €3.5 billion in funding to protect oceans

At the ‘Our Ocean’ conference in Greece on Tuesday 16 April, the European Union announced that it would be setting up 40 actions to help the oceans, financed to the tune of €3.5 billion by various EU funds.

In terms of sustainable fisheries, up to €1.9 billion has been earmarked under the ‘Recovery and Resilience Facility’ for actions in Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Poland and Portugal. €23.5 million over the 2024-2025 period is earmarked to support Regional Fisheries Management...
