ASAP, European Commission publishes calls for proposals

The European Commission published, on Wednesday 18 October, calls for proposals to select and fund projects aimed at improving European production capacities of defence products and strengthening the resilience of the related supply chains.

In total, for 2023-2025, the Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) will allocate €500 million to support investment projects worth up to €1.4 billion.

The ASAP Work Programme targets key bottlenecks identified in the ammunition supply chains: explosives, propelling powder, and shells, and supports the missiles production ramp-up. It also addresses the obsolescence, testing, or reconditioning certification of relevant defence products.

As a result, the ASAP Work Programme is structured around five calls for proposals with indicative budgets of €190 million for explosives, €144 million for powder, €90 million for shells, €40 million for missiles and, finally, €4.35 million for testing and reconditioning certification.

With its retroactive clause, ASAP allows co-financing of projects to boost industrial production that began after 20 March 2023.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 13 December 2023. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
