11/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – In Brussels on Sunday 9, Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 October, Ömer Bolat, the Turkish Trade Minister, met the European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, to discuss current trade issues between Turkey and the European Union. The two representatives exchanged views on reducing trade barriers and improving the operation of the customs union. They also discussed the restrictive measures taken by the EU regarding Turkey’s unauthorised drilling activities in the Mediterranean. In a tweet posted after the meeting, Mr Dombrovskis stressed the “strategic importance” of Turkey as a partner of the EU. During his stay, Mr Bolat also held talks with representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). (IS)
