Brussels, 25/08/2022 (Agence Europe) – As the new school year approaches, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reminds us on Thursday 25 August of the importance of prevention measures for respiratory diseases caused by viruses such as influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and SARS-CoV-2. These measures include the promotion of vaccination among children and isolation in case of contamination, hygiene or good ventilation of school premises. Children are often asymptomatic to Covid-19, but can be affected by severe forms of the disease. Cases of long Covid have been reported. The ECDC stresses that its updated document ‘Covid-19 in children and the role of school settings in transmission’ remains relevant. Link to the document: https://aeur.eu/f/2tj (EV)
