General vehicle safety, European Commission to announce new rules for automated vehicles this summer

The European Commission announced on Wednesday 6 July that it will adopt new technical rules on the safety of automated and connected cars this summer. “This will take place in early September at the latest” a diplomatic source told EUROPE.

These new rules, which will be established by means of a delegated act and an implementing act, will be part of the regulation on general vehicle safety (see EUROPE B12366A29), which is effective as of Wednesday 6 July.
