10/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 10 June, the European Commission opened a consultation period to evaluate the work of the EU Agency for Railways. The evaluation will examine the functioning of the dual system of vehicle authorisation and safety certification, the one-stop shop and the harmonised implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS). The impact of the Agency’s work will also be analysed to determine whether its role should be strengthened or whether its current status is sufficiently effective. The relationship between the resources used and the impact generated by the Agency, as well as the possibility of reducing costs and administrative burden, will also be raised.
