The European Commission and the United States announced that they had reached an agreement in principle on a new transatlantic data protection framework at the European Summit in Brussels on Friday 25 March. This, the European Commission said in a press release, will facilitate data flows between the two parties and should address the concerns raised by the Court of Justice of the European Union in the Schrems II judgment of July 2020 (see EUROPE B12536A9).
