OECD recommends taxing energy professionals to fund support for consumers affected by rising prices

Brussels, 17/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The OECD said on Thursday 17 March that member countries should provide the “targeted, temporary and means-tested” support that is “needed” for those most affected by the rising energy prices exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “These measures could be financed by taxes on the windfall profits of energy companies”, it adds in an evaluation report.
