EU Council partially suspends visa waiver agreement with Vanuatu due to its golden passport schemes

04/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU decided on Friday 4 March to partially suspend the visa waiver agreement with Vanuatu because of the risks posed by its citizenship-for-investment schemes (‘golden passport’ schemes). The suspension applies only to Vanuatu citizens holding ordinary passports issued since 25 May 2015, when these contested schemes came into force in Vanuatu, the Council explained.
