France stands ready to organise debates in EU Council on ‘rule of law’ procedures, if necessary, says Clément Beaune

Under its rotating Presidency, France is ready to organise debates in the Council of the EU on the procedures that would be launched under the regulation on the protection of the Union’s budget in the event of a widespread breakdown in the rule of law in a Member State, said Clément Beaune, Secretary of State for European Affairs (see EUROPE B12850A19), on Tuesday 25 January in Brussels.
