A trade war over carbon border adjustment mechanism must be avoided, says Franck Riester

The EU’s trading partners are already wincing at the draft Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) presented by the European Commission on 14 July (see EUROPE B12762A5). For the French Trade Minister, Franck Riester, it is necessary to take the time to exchange and have “a rich and well-rounded dialogue” with third countries on this mechanism.
