EU adopts sanctions against eight individuals and four entities

On Monday 21 June, the Council of the EU adopted sanctions against seven military personnel and one civilian, three companies, and the War Veteran’s Organisation, for their responsibilities in the 1 February 2021 coup in Myanmar and the subsequent crackdown.

Those sanctioned are the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Borders, the Minister of Planning, Finance and Industry, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (MONREC) and the Minister of Transport and...
