12/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – After committing last November to aim for carbon neutrality by 2050 (see EUROPE 12603/20), the European aviation sector is now drawing up its roadmap. Five European associations representing aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports, and navigation service providers called on the Dutch Aerospace Centre (NLR) and the SEO Amsterdam Economics Institute for this purpose and published a first report on Thursday 11 February. It calls for improved aircraft and engine technologies, the use of sustainable aviation fuels, the pricing of greenhouse gas emissions, and improved air traffic management. It contains a series of recommendations for industry and governments. The latter are called upon, in particular, to provide financial support for industry and research and to implement the ‘Single European Sky’. Consult the report: https://bit.ly/3d6LKTf (AC)
