27/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – Fifty-one MEPs from the Renew Europe, EPP, S&D, Greens/EFA, ECR and non-attached groups ,asked the High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell, on Thursday 26 November, to “enlighten” them on the circumstances that allowed a journalist to intrude on a videoconference of EU Defence Ministers on 20 November. In their letter, they ask what measures he intends to put in place “to significantly secure the means of communication for EU high-level meetings”. “This episode constitutes a major warning point for the security and credibility of the European institutions. It raises the question of the security of the lines, the vulnerability of our internal infrastructures and the more general capacity of our institutions to protect the most sensitive information exchanges”, said the MEPs.
