CONCORD expresses alarm after further fall in public aid as proportion of GNI means that EU will not reach 0.7% before 2070

In 2019, despite a moderate increase of €3 billion, Official Development Assistance from the EU in relation to its GNI decreased for the third consecutive year (see EUROPE B12501A21, B12469A22). This was prior to the pandemic, warns CONCORD, the European confederation of relief and development NGOs, in its annual AidWatch report published on 28 October. 

The EU’s commitment to reach 0.7% of its GNI by 2030 has been repeatedly reiterated.
