On Friday 16 October, the European Council deplored the resumption of Turkey’s unilateral and provocative actions in the Eastern Mediterranean, including the country’s recent exploratory activities.
In their conclusions, the leaders also call for compliance with UN Security Council Resolutions 550 and 789 on Cyprus and underline the importance of the status of Varosha, in the north of the island, after the reopening of the beach to the public (see EUROPE B12580A12).
