A new report by the EU Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) on live animal transports in Romania, published on 24 April by the European Commission, identifies severe shortcomings with regard to animal welfare. The animals were not examined in accordance with EU rules, control reports are missing and not enough qualified staff was provided.
