On Monday 27 January, in Brussels, the Ministers of Agriculture of Germany, France and Spain presented their declaration of 19 December 2019 calling for an ambitious Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) that meets the expectations of European society, particularly with regard to environmental issues (see EUROPE 12394/11).
Spanish Minister Luis Planas stressed the need for increased financial resources for the CAP and a crisis reserve to respond to certain situations.
France supports the sustainable architecture proposed by the European Commission (compulsory eco-schemes...) The German delegation considered that there should be "sufficient" budget for the CAP. More financial resources are needed, Italy also insisted. Coupled support needs to be increased, according to Bulgaria. A minimum amount of CAP funds must be devoted to climate action, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands requested. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
