In a resolution adopted by a show of hands on Thursday 16 January, the European Parliament deplored the terrorist attacks in Nigeria and strongly condemned the repeated violations of human rights and international and humanitarian law, "whether based on religion or ethnicity".
It "condemns in particular the recent upsurge in violence against ethnic and religious communities, including religious institutions and congregations" and offers its condolences to the families of the victims.
