The spokeswoman of the European External Action Service welcomed on Tuesday evening, 8 October, the holding of parliamentary elections in Tunisia on 6 October, although the turnout was only 41%.
No party won a majority of seats, 109 out of 217. The independents have reportedly won between 75 and 85 seats, the Islamic conservative party between 40 and 46.
