Infringement procedure against Poland over water pollution by nitrates closed

20/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – Infringement proceedings against Poland for water pollution by agricultural nitrates have been closed, the European Commission announced on Thursday 19 July. After the European Court of Justice ruling against it in November 2014, Poland has taken the necessary steps to comply with the requirements of Directive 91/676/EEC, which seeks to reduce pollution of groundwater and surface water caused by nitrates from agricultural sources.
