13/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 13 February, the European Commission published a mid-term evaluation of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which seeks to support strategic investment in the Union in the areas of transport (Trans-European Transport Networks, TEN-T), energy (Trans-European Energy Networks, TEN-E) and telecommunications (Broadband and Information and Communication Technologies -ICT). In this report, the Commission points out that €25 billion has so far been released by the CEF to help make investments worth a total of €50 billion and create real added value for all member states, particularly in low emissions transport and the main TEN-T corridors. It believes, however, that it is still too early to measure the concrete results of implementing the investments financed through this instrument.
