The Council of EU environment ministers, meeting in Luxembourg on Friday 13 October, reached a political agreement on the so-called Lulucf regulation, which seeks to involve agriculture and forestry in efforts to tackle climate change over the period from 2021 to 2030 by ensuring that the emissions and absorptions from this sector, which is responsible for 60% of greenhouse gas emissions, balance one another out.
