A 2018 budget to return France to budgetary credibility in Europe

On Wednesday 27 September, the French government announced a draft 2018 budget designed to allow France to return to compliance with the European budgetary rules. Its return to budgetary credibility in Europe will also shape the head of steam it hopes to create, the French President Emmanuel Macron said the day before, in his speech on getting the European project back on track (see EUROPE 11870).
