The European Court of Auditors announced on Monday 18 September that it has started to examine whether flood prevention, protection and preparedness in the EU are based on sound analysis and are likely to be effective.
The audit conclusions will be published in late 2018 and will take on particular importance in view of the increased extreme weather conditions, the often devastating intensity of which was illustrated by Hurricane Irma.
