29/08/2017 (Agence Europe) – In a speech to French ambassadors on Tuesday 29 August, France's President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that an international summit on the climate, to be organised by France, would be held in Paris on 12 December. The summit, which Macron had announced to the G20 leaders in Hamburg, will take place less than a month after the end of COP22 (Bonn, 6-17 November), on the second anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement that was concluded at COP21 on 12 December 2015 (see EUROPE 11826). The anniversary summit aims to "review progress and mobilise crucial financing", Macron said, as quoted by French news agency AFP. "The World Bank and all partners that want to be associated" will take part in the summit. (AN)
