Brexit and fisheries do not make good bedfellows, especially in Parliament

At a European Parliament fisheries committee workshop on Wednesday 21 June, a number of MEPs once again expressed their fears at the consequences for fisheries of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the EU (see EUROPE 11751).

Jose Manuel Sobrino of the University of A Coruña presented a study commissioned by the European Parliament on Brexit and the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). He said that fisheries will not have a central role in the negotiations on a bilateral EU-UK agreement....
