On Thursday 25 May, the leaders of the 28 Atlantic Alliance member nations decided to strengthen NATO’s role in the fight against terrorism.
Addressing the press, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said: “We have agreed on an action plan for NATO to intensify its counter-terrorism efforts”. A coordinator will be appointed to “ensure that the new action plan is implemented swiftly and effectively”, he said.
