During a dinner in Brussels on Wednesday 24 April, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and the prime ministers of six countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo) agreed to step up their cooperation in the Balkans region. “All present confirmed their full commitment to continue working for the European Union integration process (...). They reiterated their determination and strong shared interest in strengthening cooperation and bringing about tangible results for the lives of the citizens of the region”, states a press release from the European External Action Service. The leaders also “emphasised their commitment to good neighbourly relations and deepening regional understanding through mutual respect and cooperation”, the EEAS adds. According to her services, Mogherini encouraged the prime ministers to accelerate the necessary work in order to meet their citizens’ expectations and move closer to their European Union future.
