On Monday 8 May, the European Commission adopted a proposal on the position to be argued by the EU at the forthcoming general assembly of the International Organisation of Wine and Vine (OIV) on 2 June 2017.
The OIV will discuss and potentially adopt resolutions which will have an effect on EU law on winemaking practices.
At present, the EU is not a member of the OIV, though 20 of its member states are. They may propose amendments to draft OIV resolutions.
