04/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc, was invited by the interest group Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) to address a conference, on Wednesday 3 May, on reducing noise from rail transport. At the meeting, the Commissioner said that rail noise had a “negative impact on human health, which can only be addressed through coordinated actions”. She added that she hoped for joint action to secure a “satisfactory reduction in rail noise, while preserving the competitiveness of rail freight transport”. The conference was attended by representatives of civil society and member of the European Parliament Michael Cramer (Greens/EFA, Germany). (LT)
