EU says appeal court's verdict on Hissène Habré's sentence marks end of historic trial

02/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – The EU considers the confirmation, on 27 April, of life imprisonment for former Chadian president Hissène Habré for crimes against humanity, war crimes and torture as a step forward in the fight against impunity.  The appeal court's "verdict ends this historic trial definitively.  The verdict constitutes an important precedent for international justice and the fight against impunity in Africa, and also in the world.  The Senegalese authorities showed...
