03/04/2017 (Agence Europe) – During their Council meeting on Monday 3 April, Ministers for Foreign Affairs, followed the news from Saint Petersburg, where there has been an explosion in a metro carriage killing at least 10 people and leaving around 20 injured. As we go to press, suspicions regarding a terrorist attack have not been confirmed. During her press conference, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, offered her condolences to the Russian people and announced that she had sent a message of condolences on behalf of the EU to the head of the Russian diplomatic corps, Sergei Lavrov and that she was following the situation closely. In a press release, her spokesperson made it quite clear that the EU categorically condemned, “all acts of violence”. (CG)
