The European Commission adopted a proposal on Tuesday 14 March adjusting Regulation 2017/127 which sets fishing opportunities for certain stocks.
The Commission proposes to set a total allowable catch (TAC) of 486,115 tonnes for sandeel, with 458,552 tonnes going to Denmark. Sandeel is a short-lived species for which the scientific advice becomes available in the second half of February and the fishery opens in April. In Regulation 2017/127, the sandeel TAC was set provisionally at zero.
