Court of Auditors to carry out audit of EU spending against air pollution

To tackle air pollution, which causes some 450,000 premature deaths every year in the EU and incurs huge costs in health care and economic losses, the EU spends over €2 billion, the European Court of Auditors said on Friday 10 February.

An audit of the effectiveness of this spending, of the legislative framework in the EU and of the measures put in place by the member states to reduce air pollution will be undertaken, the Court has announced, after including air quality in its work...
